The French Foreign Ministry supports French town councils involved in decentralized cooperation with Niger town councils.
In Dankassari an initial project was supported in 2011, funding a survey of the water requirements in every village of the rural community.
The following have been ratified: ‘The Joint Development Project’ on Combined Municipal Strategy for the rural villages belonging to Dankassari district in Niger’, from 2013 to 2015. The following have also been approved: “Going Ahead toward Sustainable Development Goals in the Dankassari villages”, for 2017-2018, and ‘Sustainable Development’ in Dankassari for 2018-2020, as well as the “Sustainable Development in the villages of Dankassari” project for the period 2020-2021.
Since the overthrow of President Bazoum by the coup d’état of July 26, 2023, the suspension of French development aid to Niger in the summer of 2023 and the cessation of decentralized cooperation between the municipalities of Cesson-Sévigné and Dankassari, the support of the MEAE to Dankassari has been interrupted.
