The French Embassy in Niger plays a prominent part in following up the decentralized cooperation and in spreading information on current tenders.

In 2020 and 2021, the French Embassy in Niger supported the Niger Youth Olympics and the “Caravane de la Coopération Décentralisée”, and in 2022 the RAEDD project “Rights and health of schoolgirls”.

The overthrow of President Bazoum in a coup d’état on July 26, 2023 was the starting point for a profound deterioration in relations between Niger and France at government level. The French embassy in Niger is now closed until further notice. It continues to operate from Paris.
