For the Sustainable Development of the villages of Dankassari: food security, environment, women’s empowerment, maternal and child health, girls’ rights, governance, communication.
The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) supports this project, as part of its support for decentralized cooperation, for the year 2022.
The funding did not reach the AESCD until December 2022, because of administrative delays due to the City of Cesson-Sévigné, and a report is requested by the MEAE as early as July 2023, so the actions will mainly take place during the first half of 2023.
In Dankassari, the overall objective of the project is the implementation of concerted actions for Sustainable Development in the villages of the rural commune in the areas of food security, the environment, the empowerment of women, the mother and child health, the rights of women and girls, the strengthening of municipal services, communication. Based on the needs identified by the Mayor of the rural commune of Dankassari and our partner RAEDD, the strategy consists of carrying out concrete actions that will immediately benefit the quality of life of the population of the villages, with particular attention to women and girls. , and specific sections concerning them.
In Cesson-Sévigné, actions of solidarity and communication make it possible to strengthen links with Dankassari, in particular with children from primary schools (interventions in classes, exchanges of school correspondence) and with the general public (exhibition at the Médiathèque du Pont des Arts ).
Specifically the following actions will be implemented:

  • In terms of food security: establishment of two cereal banks in villages with high deficits and construction of the premises of four cereal banks.
  • In terms of environment: training in Assisted Natural Regeneration, establishment of three tree nurseries and three school gardens.
  • In terms of women’s economic empowerment: establishment and strengthening of micro-credit in three villages, training in the management and diversification of income-generating activities.
  • In terms of women’s rights: awareness-raising film sketches, following our first Akwi Magana film sketches and with the same team. The themes planned are the right to choose a spouse, unwanted births during studies, the management of menstrual hygiene, violence against girls and women. Their production has been entrusted to CulturePlus as part of Nouvel Espoir’s participation in the Tarbiyya Tatali collective.
    6 In terms of girls’ rights: keeping girls in school and menstrual hygiene, in coordination with the PISCCA project funded by the French Embassy in Niger. • In terms of maternal and child health; study on early births in the rural commune.
    6 In terms of support for municipal services: equipping town hall premises with solar energy, training in the use of a geographic information system.
  • In terms of communication: production of two Magazines, exhibition in Cesson-Sévigné
  • Regular monitoring of activities.

The project is funded by the MEAE, the Nigerien State, the City of Cesson-Sévigné, the Brittany Region and the AESCD.
