Decentralized cooperation between Cesson and Dankassari since 2009.

Dankassari is a locality in the vicinity of Dogon Doutchi. It is composed of several dozens of villages, among them Lougou as well as Lillato , amounting to a total of about 70,000 people.

In the wake of contacts made in 2008, a decentralised cooperation agreement signed by the Mayor of Dankassari and the Mayor of Cesson-Sévigné has been effective since 2009.

The areas decided for intervention are :

  • education and training, for girls and women particularly, health care for mother and child.
  • creation of a water system and of vegetable gardens and orchards.
  • support to town services, in particular the registry office.
  • cultural exchanges.

RAEDD is entrusted with implementing it and AESCD with following it up.

The 2009-2010 operations

The Cesson Dankassari decentralised cooperation concerned the following operations :

Water Access Rehabilitation of the access to drinking water in Dankassari

Gardening and tree planting

  • Improving a school garden in a low land area
  • shrubbery

Education, Training, focusing on Women

  • Installing two millet mills in Lougou and Bawada Gida
  • a training session for 14 teachers about personal and family responsibility, particularly in sexual education and struggle against overpopulation, 400 booklets purchased.
  • Ten matrons trained, ten kits purchased.
  • Literacy group for 33 women in Dogontapki

Registry Offices

  • Training session for fifteen registrar officers
  • 15 villages endowed with registry books and equipment
  • Organization of an open air sitting to catch up with children’s registration.

County Council 35 subsidised the purchase of Spiruline for the Health cabins of Dankassari in 2009.

Education, Training, focusing on Women

  • Installing two millet mills in Dogontapki and Kamrey
  • a training session for 14 teachers about personal and family responsibility, particularly in sexual education and struggle against overpopulation, 400 booklets purchased.
  • Three ox carts provided for matrons in remote villages for evacuation in case of emergency births in Douzou, Kamrey, and Marake Rogo
  • Literacy group for 33 women in Dogontapki

The Ille et Vilaine Department Council financed a project of seed improvement and the implementation of a cereal bank in 2010.{}

Concerning access to water, many partners provided funds.

The 2011-2012 operations

The Cesson-Dankassari cooperation centered on the following points :

Access to water

  • A survey of the requirements of all the Dankassari villages.

Gardening and tree planting

  • Improving a low-laid school garden and supplying a primary school with books.

Education and training, aimed at women particularly

  • Setting up a millet mill at Jarkassa, training the millers,
  • Training a group of 14 teachers about family and individual responsibility, particularly about sexual education, and stemming overpopulation, 400 manuals purchased.
  • Supply of three ox-drawn carts to the matrons of isolated villages for evacuation in case of difficult confinement in Tchito, Kadandamé, and Kaoura Lahma.
  • Literacy courses for two groups of 25 women in Dogontapki.

Registry

  • Training fifteen registry officers
  • Fitting out fifteen villages with registers and equipment
  • Organization of an open registration session to catch up with the backlog of unregistered children.

The Departmental Council (35) funded a project of seed improvement through school fields in Dogontapki.

The 2012-2013 operations

The Cesson Dankassari decentralised cooperation centered on the following points :

Access to water

  • Following a survey of the requirements of all the villages of Dankassari, an autonomous water supply was installed in Lougou and three water drills were repaired in Karki Mallam, Dan Keda, and Marake Toudou.

Education and training, aimed at women particularly

  • Setting up a millet mill at Karkin Malam, servicing a mill at Lougou, training the millers,
  • Training a group of 14 teachers about family and individual responsibility, particularly about sexual education, and stemming overpopulation, 400 manuals purchased.
  • Supply of six ox-drawn carts to the matrons of isolated villages for evacuation in case of difficult confinement in Koumey, Chanomo, Saoutin kahi, Bagnan Doutchi, Goulbi, and Elgueza, three being financed by the payment of the first carts.
  • Literacy courses for one group of 33 women in Guizara.

Support for the municipal services of Dankassari

  • Fitting out the Chief Registrar : purchase of a computer and training
  • Fitting out the officer in charge of school matters : purchase of a motorbike
  • Purchase of school books and tables with benches for the secondary school.

Concerning the Access to Water scheme, numerous partners contributed financially.
